Worldwide depression prone 121 million people, it affects the abilities of people in work, relationships and reduces the quality of life. The most severe form of depression can lead to suicide, on account of its 850 thousand deaths annually.
The world Health Organization has made the review in 18 countries of the world, which describes the prevalence of depression in the world. The depression was measured on nine criteria, including the level of sadness, loss of interest or pleasure, feelings of guilt, low self-esteem, disturbed sleep and appetite, weakness and inability to concentrate.
Based on detailed interviews with more than 89000 people, researchers have found that depression affected 15 percent of people with high income and 11 percent with low or medium. Depression is most common in high-income countries, 30 percent of French residents susceptible to this disease, these are the same figures in America and the Netherlands. The lowest incidence was in China, 12 percent, and the highest in India, 36 percent.
Women are twice as likely to suffer from depression than men, that contribute to the loss of a partner, divorce or separation.
Such an analytical study can help scientists identify patterns and causes of disease and help to prevent the development of depression in the population.
