Uncontrolled overeating may be the cause of teen drug abuse

Teenagers and children are prone to uncontrolled overeating more likely than others to use drugs. This conclusion was made by experts on the basis of extensive research, which was attended by 17 thousand teenagers, writes Fox News. In addition, overeating often leads to obesity and depression.

According to General Manager of a team of doctors from children's hospital Boston - Cendrine Sonneville, such problems can be avoided with the right approach. The responsibility for the child lies to his parents and the doctors.

Sonneville and other scientists studied children and adolescents. Every child was required to fill out questionnaires every 1-2 years. This study lasted from 1996 to 2005.

At the end of the study it was found that about 1% of boys and 3% of girls regularly have overeaten, losing control over his behavior. If teenagers had overeaten consciously, this ratio was changed to 3% of boys and 1% in girls, respectively.

During the experiment, 41% of those interviewed admitted that he used marijuana, and 32% other drugs. According to the research, the likelihood that the child will try drugs increased in children with uncontrolled overeating 2.7 times.
