The symptoms of autism in boys and girls differ

Scientists from the Medical school of Stanford University analyzed the health status of 800 children with a diagnosis of "high-functioning autism". According to statistics, among males, the disease is detected more often. However, scientists have revised their opinion in relation to this theory, autism among girls has the same frequency and differ only the symptoms, writes The Daily Mail.

The most common symptom of autism in boys – repetitive behavior and a desire to do monotonous, repetitive activities. Among girls similar symptoms were recorded much less frequently.

Disorders in communication among boys and girls met equally often. Scientists suggest that the manifestations of autism are affected by age peculiarities of the structure of the cerebral cortex. It is likely that the approach to the treatment of autism in girls should be any different.
