The probability of obesity is rooted in early childhood

Research at children's hospital Boston and Harvard medical school, funded by the Centre for control and prevention of disease, took part in more than 44000 children. In the end, it was found that those children who were overweight during the first two years of life, doubled their chances of obesity in five years and almost twice as likely to be obese at the age of 10.

"These findings will help to give specific guidance to pediatricians were able to recognize when the child is in a situation of real risk of obesity in later life, which helps combat the obesity epidemic in the very early stages" - says Elsie Taveras from Harvard medical school, who led the study. "We should not neglect these early stages of weight gain, thinking that it's just baby fat, and he sooner or later it will grow," says Taveras.
