Researchers from the University of Sheffield assure - magnetic radiation helps in the treatment of prostate cancer in men. Unlike chemotherapy and radiation therapy, such therapy can kill cancer cells without harming healthy tissue. While the study shows the effectiveness in the early stages of the disease.
Prostate cancer is the most common form of cancer in men. In the United States about 37 thousand new cases every year and 10 700 deaths from prostate cancer. When prostate cancer is only beginning to develop, certain white blood cells called macrophages that accumulate in the tumor, in order to resist their development. However, as tumors grow and spread very quickly, the blood cells are not able to control its growth. To speed up their actions, researchers have introduced into cells magnetically-charged nanoparticles . Magnetic force allowed the cells to move much faster around the body emerging from the tumor. Earlier laboratory tests showed that white blood cells can reduce the number of cancer cells.
