The head of the Ministry of health of the Russian Federation: in 2012, the population decline has been stopped

According to a recent statement by the Minister of health of the Russian Federation Veronika Skvortsova, 2012 year mortality of Russians decreased by 26.2 thousand cases. Thus, the mortality rate decreased by 1.5% and amounted to 13.3 per 1,000 population. Also, according to the Minister, the reduction of mortality among the population was recorded in all major groups of diseases: diseases of the circulatory system - by 2.6%, tuberculosis - 12.2%, diseases caused by external causes of 4.9%, accidental poisoning by alcohol 14.6% and deaths from anabaena - 0.7 percent.

However, the head of the health Department noted that the birth rate over last year increased by 5.6% to: from 12.6 to 13.3 per thousand population. According to Skvortsova, in this case a positive role was played by a set of activities aimed at the protection of motherhood and childhood. One such measure was the establishment of a service for the provision of psychosocial support to pregnant women, including those who found themselves in difficult life situations, so the number of abortions decreased by 53.9 thousand.

The number of cases using high-tech reproductive technologies increased by 20%, which undoubtedly also contributed to the increase in the birth rate. By applying these technologies were born more than 3000 children. In conclusion, the Minister said that last year the population decline was almost stopped, and the indices of fertility and mortality crossed.
