The basis of new antibiotics will form the old drugs

Experts from Canada conducted a study which found that a traditional remedy against epilepsy lamotrigine has a number of useful properties that you can use in antibacterial therapy.

Scientists from McMaster University (Hamilton) and research Institute in La JOLLA have understood the question and published the results of their research in the publication of eLife. According to experts, the life of modern antibiotics is rapidly declining. It's all in the bacteria that quickly find their way to sustainability.

Bacterial agents do not respond to current medications aimed at relieving inflammation. This factor is the cause of increased mortality in infectious diseases and increasing duration of the disease. The present study proves - lamotrigine can help not only in epilepsy, bipolar disorder, but also in strengthening the immune system.
