Taking melatonin can harm children's health

The modern market is replete with a multitude of features containing melatonin, which according to the advertisements should give a strong and healthy sleep. Some parents use these pills as a sedative for children. However, canadian researchers conducted a study showing that taking such drugs may harm the health of children. Under normal conditions, the body produces melatonin in the dark and thus regulates sleep cycles. Dr. Shelly Weiss from the Hospital for sick children in Toronto investigated the effects of melatonin in children with epilepsy.

Children with nervous system disorders, such as autism and cerebral palsy, taking melatonin is shown to normalize. Also justified the use of melatoninbuy additives in an abrupt change of time zones, to prevent problems associated with it.

However, it should be remembered that the risk of negative effects from taking these supplements is the higher, the longer the child accepts them.
