Study: protein diet does not prevent diabetes

Special diet reduces the risk of developing diabetes of the second type. Moreover, if you are already diagnosed with diabetes protein diet increases tissue sensitivity to insulin, as many believe. In essence, such a diet has no therapeutic effect, writes Science World Report.

In total, the study involved 34 women with excess weight. Their ages ranged from 50 to 60 years. None of the women at the time of examination, diabetes were not. Volunteers were divided into three groups. The first group ate a lot of protein foods, the second – the usual diet with a standard protein, the third group was a control, women in this group could eat whatever I want.

Scientists have found that regular meals with a predominance of protein does not affect the sensitivity of tissues to insulino. Interestingly, a balanced diet raised the sensitivity by 25-30%, which is quite important in the case of diabetes. The researchers plan to continue work in the given direction to explore the question of the influence of diet on the development of diabetes from all sides.
