Stroke accelerates the aging brain – scientists

After a stroke the brain is aging for 8 years. To such conclusion scientists from the University of Michigan after the examination, there were 4,900 people aged 65 years and older. As study groups were selected to 7.5% of blacks and 6.7% of white volunteers.

The observation took 12 years. During this time the owners of the study suffered a stroke. After conducting special tests, scientists have found the disease leads to brain ageing and deterioration of most of the indicators of its functioning.

Volunteers after stroke coping with the dough much worse. The results obtained did not depend on ethnicity or social status of people. For stroke prevention researchers are advised to lead a healthy lifestyle, monitor arterial pressure and to undergo regular medical examination.
