Some people can lose weight on cake and ice cream, scientists say

Everyone has their own individual metabolism. Someone can single-handedly eat a whole cake without gaining weight one bit, the other person will add a couple of pounds from one sandwich, eaten at night, writes the journal Cell.

The study involved 800 volunteers. People are suggested to eat some food. Some time later, each subject took the blood sugar. It turned out that people react to different foods also can be different. The same product in different people can invoke completely different reactions from the metabolism.

Some participants of the experiment, the piece of cake did not raise the blood sugar level, though a banana or yogurt significantly increased the amount of glucose. Scientists call this phenomenon the individual response of the organism. Metabolic the answer, experts say, may depend on total activity, certain diseases that change the composition of the microflora of the gastrointestinal tract.
