Sofas are one of the causes of cancer thyroid

According to research conducted by employees of Duke University, toxic chemical substances, which are actively used for protection of mattresses and sofas from fire during a fire, are one of the main factors contributing to the increase in the number of cases of malignant tumors of the thyroid gland. In some States, the use of these chemicals (flame retardants) was limited by law, but, according to scientists, these measures are not sufficient.

Experts analyzed the dust samples from residential areas, as well as blood samples of patients with cancer of thyroid and came to the conclusion that these patients have experienced a highly concentrated diphenyl ethers. In addition, in their blood were detected by elevated levels of trichloroethylphosphate - substances, belonging to the flame retardants.

Studies have also shown that flame retardants lead to disorders of hormonal balance and thereby increase the risk of developing cancer, and cause a decrease in the level of fertility.
