Sleep problems can be the first symptom of Alzheimer's disease

The doctors established that sleep disturbance is one of the first symptoms progressing form of Parkinson's disease or Alzheimer's disease. Information was published in the scientific journal Trends in Neuroscience.

These are the conclusions of scientists in a study involving two thousand healthy people and one thousand patients with Alzheimer's disease or Parkinson's disease. During the detailed analysis was able to establish that insomnia and other sleep disorders were accompanied by the occurrence of such diseases in 80% of cases among older people.

The researchers believe in the prospects of the chosen direction and propose to use the experience gained to develop new methods of diagnosis of diseases of the elderly.
