Scientists invited volunteers to take part in the experiment. The subjects filled questionnaires in different conditions. Some were sitting at a clean table, on which were OK, others in a chaotic chaos.
After completing the questionnaire the volunteers were asked to donate money to a good cause, and as a bonus, to choose an Apple or a muffin. People sitting at a clean table, most often chose healthy foods and were more generous. Thus, with the creative task, the volunteers were in perfect conditions of cleanliness, coped much worse. Apparently, the mess is indeed necessary for creative thinking.
