Abstinence, experts from University College London, gives positive results already on the first month. Life without alcohol will allow you to avoid diseases of the liver, to relieve the pressure and level of cholesterol in the blood, the risk of diabetes, according to The Telegraph.
The study involved 102 healthy people aged over 40 years. On average, the volunteers drank a week for about 30 units of alcohol. Subjects were first asked to abstain from alcohol for 4 weeks. Even in such a short time survey scientists have noticed definite improvements in health. The liver was increased by 12.5%, however, the risk of diabetes fell by 28%.
Scientists recommend not to abuse alcohol and be limited to 3-4 units of alcohol a day. One unit contains 10 grams of pure alcohol, and four units correspond to 1-2 glasses of wine.
