Scientists: second X chromosome is not necessary for the survival of the feminine

Researchers from the UK has shared his thoughts on the role of second female chromosomes. According to their position, this chromosome is not necessary for survival of women, it appeared in the course of evolution, but has lost its function over time. The results of scientific work tells the publication PLoS Biology.

Scientists compare the second X chromosome with highways. The second female chromosome, in fact, is the archival copy first. There are no specific genes that allow to survive or in any way affecting the functioning of the body. Another interesting fact: the second chromosome in women works not in each tissue or organ.

Studies on genetic differences between women and men continues. Before scientists conducted the work, which indicates that the male Y chromosome may eventually even disappear.
