Scientists plan to use animal organs in transplantation

Today there is a shortage of organs for transplantation. Perhaps the problem will soon be resolved with the help of a transplant of genetically modified animals. Recently undergone a heart transplant pig in the body of a baboon with a disabled immune system, reports Live Science. Note, the main heart monkey functioned and was connected to the cardiovascular system.

In the experiment, the heart of the pig has been in the body of a baboon for 500 days. This success in the field of transplantation offers hope scientists on the successful transplantation of alien bodies people. Progress in the future will allow to solve the problem of shortage of organs for transplantation. While the main problem is graft rejection by the human immune system.
