Eight years it took scientists to scientifically prove that life in the highlands is favorable for people who are overweight. Three groups of young people from Spain agreed to the experiment.
In total the study involved 9300 people. People from the first group lived in the lowlands, from the second group – level 125-450 meters. The third group lived in a mountainous area above 450 meters above sea level.
The risk of obesity in the third group was 13% below the average. Apparently, life in the mountains requires more physical effort. Daily ascent and descent from the mountain is burned calories and unformed centimeters of fat.
The lack of oxygen in the mountains reduces appetite, allowing you to feel full for a long time. This factor also helps in weight control, writes Planet Today.
