Scientists have found a gene influencing the development of strokes, heart attacks and migraines

Within the latest study, researchers from Royal Holloway University of London have found a gene that prevents strokes, migraines and heart attacks. Victims alone strokes each year become 15 million people.

Stroke is one of the main causes of mortality in developed and developing countries. A history of stroke in three of the four cases leads to disability. After a stroke a quarter of people in need in the care of relatives or medical personnel.

According to a study, PHACTR1 gene most frequently suffer from dissection of the cervical arteries. This pathology serves as a background for the development of stroke in aged 50 years and older. This gene prevents the development of heart attacks and migraines.

Scientists believe that the information collected will help in the development of new treatments for the diseases of the cardiovascular system.
