Most people love beer. Drawn to this drink and fly, according to Belgian scientists. The beer contains a large number of esters, which are extracted from the beverage into the environment. These volatile substances have a fruity smell.
If we consider the nature of the esters, their synthesis meets the fermentation process of beer yeast, which causes the attractive taste and smell of beer.
To prove their theory, the scientists conducted the experiment. They were removed from the yeast gene ATF1, responsible for the formation of esters during fermentation. The drink, made on the basis of this material has lost any appeal not only for people but also for insects.
