Scientists have developed a "switch" for the human brain

In 2005, scientists have learned to manipulate the brain of the person. With light you can turn on and off certain cells. The opening of the called method optogenetic, writes The Independent. The development was one serious drawback: "enable" worked much better than "off". In 2014, this defect is resolved.

To do this, scientists have reconstructed the structure of the light-sensitive proteins. Disabling the separate areas of the brain, can objectively examine human behavior at the level of specific neural circuits. In addition, the technology allows to increase the capacity of the human brain.

In the experiment, the scientists replaced the 10 amino acid protein. Development affects their efficiency and speed of impact. Planned use developments for the treatment of diseases of the nervous system such as epilepsy.
