Scientists have created a prosthetic device for patients with loss of long-term memory

Research group of the University of southern California have developed a unique prosthesis for the brain. The device delivers information from the analyzers in the areas of the brain responsible for long term memory bypassing the affected area. Now scientists say about the success of the animal experiments, planned clinical trials on human volunteers, according to Science World Report.

Any information for the brain – a set of electrical impulses. These pulses pass through the region of the hippocampus, it is the center of memory. The target path of a pulse – phase long-term memory. If the damage ways, for example, in Alzheimer's disease, reduces the likelihood that an event will be remembered for the man for weeks, months and years.

The prosthesis must solve this problem and restore the process of formation of long term memories. The dates of clinical trials not yet reported.
