Scientists from the U.S. came close to developing a cure for "the disease of Stephen Hawking"

Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (als) still cannot be cured, however, unraveling mechanisms of disease is being. A person with als gradually developed complete paralysis of the body, and nothing to do with it today is impossible.

There are a number of drugs, but they only marginally slow the progression of the disease. All patients with als die from respiratory arrest. Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis suffers Stephen Hawking, the famous astrophysicist, and British guitarist Jason Becker.

According to one of assumptions, the development of BASS is due to a failure in the synthesis of the protein sod1. For the formation of this substance responds to the individual gene. Affecting him, scientists believe, may significantly delay the progression of the disease or even to turn it over backwards.
