Scientists from Japan explained why the return journey always seems shorter

The road home always seems shorter. Japanese scientists from Kyoto University tried to explain this phenomenon from a scientific point of view. They set the whole thing in retrospective reflection and re-assess the duration of the return trip.

People are often in a hurry on arrival, which slows down the sense of time. The sense of return to the starting point and thought about the reverse direction of the path, on the contrary, speed up the time. As a result the return journey seems shorter writes PLOS One.

His theory, scientists have confirmed in the experiment. Study participants watched a 20 minute video with travelers. On some videos people were heading to a specific point, the other was recorded the journey with a return back home. Volunteers noted that the way back has always seemed shorter.
