Scientists explained why the fast phase of sleep is important for remembering information

Healthy sleep is important for overall health of the body. Everyone knows about it, but full enough sleep is not all. Researchers conducted another experiment confirming the need for a full and long sleep.

The researchers showed the rodents. The next day, one of the objects removed, in its place put the thing in another shape. It turned out that this change forced the mice to explore a new object longer than the old one. The researchers concluded: mice are able to perceive spatial information.

In the second phase of the experiment, scientists exposed light flashes on the neurons of mice while they were in REM sleep. This intervention, as it turned out, reduced the animals ' ability to remember shapes of objects. In the result, the mouse spent on the study of new and old objects of the same time.
