Russian scientists will develop a new vaccine against tick-borne encephalitis

Employees of the Department of biochemistry, Microbiology and biotechnology, far Eastern Federal University working on a new generation vaccine against tick-borne encephalitis. Experiments and studies are continuing for several years, experts now talk about breakthrough and the imminent birth of the drug.

First experiments with the use of the vaccine in laboratory animals were successful. Now scientists are trying to further improve the efficacy of a drug and reduce its toxicity to human body.

The new vaccines are considered active compounds from marine animals, algae, living in the Barents, Okhotsk and sea of Japan at a depth of up to one hundred meters.

The main purpose of development is to reduce the incidence of tick-borne encephalitis and to rid the country of this disease.
