Russian scientists have printed living organ on a 3D printer

This organ was the thyroid gland. It managed to transplant lab mice. "In the mouse thyroid gland works, produces hormones," says Executive Director, cluster of biological and medical technologies of "SKOLKOVO" Fund Kirill Kaem.

Russia is one of five countries that developed the technology three-dimensional printing of internal organs. Now it is planned to launch serial production of bio-printers. However, while it lacks experience and resources. Scientists believe that within 15 years the situation will change and some of the bodies for a person will create in a lab, not to take away from donors.

Actually, the creation of artificial liver, says the Executive Director of biomedical technologies cluster. "While all this is lab level, but bioprinter be built and the machine itself," he commented.
