People with bronchial asthma increased fragility of bones - study

The surprising fact was able to install scientists from the Medical research center of Seoul national University. The head of research Jae Woo Jung found a link between asthma and thinning of bone tissue. Continuous use of hormonal drugs (corticosteroids) is one of the major risk factors for osteoporosis and other bone diseases, writes The Times of India.

Data were established during survey seven thousand people, in 433 cases were diagnosed with asthma. The survey proved that in the case of bronchial asthma with consistent use of corticosteroids decreased bone density compared with healthy individuals from the control group.

Scientists point out the fact reduced bone density may be a result not only of hormonal therapy, but decreased prevalence of vitamin D, and ethnicity. From the use of traditional anti-asthma researchers are advised not to give up, however, the study once again proves that pharmacists still have something to aim for in the development of advanced medicines.
