On the positive effects of nuts, especially some of them on human health has long been known. For example, cashews, hazelnuts and almonds greatly reduce the risk of recurrence of malignant tumors of the colon. To reaffirm this in a recent study, which was attended by eight hundred and twenty-six patients who had undergone treatment for cancer third stage (the chance of staying alive three years later after a course of treatment for each of them was seventy percent).
Nineteen percent of them in the process of the experiment had consumed at least two ounces of nuts a week. As a result, the risk of re-development of the disease have nearly halved, and the probability of death – fifty-seven percent, in comparison with other patients who after completion of therapy is not used.
While scientists emphasize that to consider the nuts an alternative to standard methods of treatment (radiation and chemotherapy) in no case should not be. However, the results of the study clearly demonstrate the crucial role that the process of dealing with cancer is nutrition.
By the way, earlier also failed to establish that regular exercise and certain types of diets (particularly Mediterranean) significantly reduce the likelihood of premature death and recurrent colon cancer.
