Novosibirsk scientists have killed 99% of cancer cells using neutron accelerator

New technology from Russian scientists allows to quickly cope with the growth of cancerous tumors. We are talking about boron neutron capture therapy from scientists from nuclear physics Institute.

During the experiments, they determined the optimal dose that kills up to 99% of cancer cells. While strong damaging effect on healthy tissue, the radiation is not provided.

The method works as follows. It is known that cancer cells accumulate the boron-10 isotope in large quantities. At first the doctors "pumped up" the tumor is this element that makes cancer cells vulnerable to neutron radiation therapy. As a result, relatively small doses to kill cancer, while leaving healthy tissue unharmed.

It should be noted that the developed method is quite expensive. One accelerator will cost 5-7 million dollars.
