Movies replace painkillers

Scientists from Oxford University have proven that regular viewing melodramas and dramas triggers the release of hormones of happiness – endorphins. The result is improved mood, a desire to communicate. Latest experiment proved that some films can even reduce pain.

In the study, volunteers were divided into two groups. Some people were asked to watch a dramatic picture, and the other a documentary. In the first group after viewing the film, the level of the pain threshold was significantly higher than in the second.

Apparently, the big role is played by the plot. Touching stories evoke a sense of empathy to the characters in the film. As a result, the viewing dramas and melodramas brings people together.
