Movement of the child's eyes may indicate a susceptibility to autism

British scientists from the Medical Research Council conducted a study, which found one of the diagnostic criteria, indicating an increased risk of autism. The technique is far from perfect, and one parameter (eye movements) may not be reliable symptom of the disease. However, developments in this area may be useful as a method of early detection of autism among children.

Researchers showed children aged 6-8 months a static image. It turned out that in the group of children, morgause when viewing more than once per two seconds, the risk of autism was higher in three times.

Note, the survey results cannot be considered as a diagnostic method. Pay attention to the small number of subjects (a total of 104 children). Scientists suggest that the frequency of eye movements indicates the relationship of the child with the environment and determines the degree of immersion in its information space.
