New law could ban free abortions under the system of mandatory medical insurance. Violation of the law upon its adoption would be punishable by a fine of up to 200 thousand citizens, officials, when disobedience will pay a fine of 800 thousand rubles. Possible imprisonment for up to 90 days.
One of the developers of the law was Elena Mizulina, the infamous Chairman of the Duma Committee on family issues. Today abortion at the expense of means of obligatory medical insurance are permitted only for medical reasons, when there is a threat to the life of the mother or unborn child.
In parallel considering a law to prohibit retail sales of drugs for abortion. Pregnant women before an abortion must undergo an ultrasound to visualize the fetus.
"Many girls are trying to conduct abortion at home and taking such drugs. In this regard, we believe that these pills have been sold more and more, so the demand is there, but at the same time it is possible to ascertain and growth of side diseases, including blood poisoning, and infertility that is not treated. No one proposes to ban medical abortions, but abortions should be done only under the supervision of a specialist, as this will avoid the tragic consequences for the patient." - says Yaroslav Nilov, head of the Duma Committee on Affairs of public associations and religious organizations.
