German scientists have identified significant differences in male and female metabolism, which would entail the need to develop gender-based methods of treatment of certain diseases.
After analyzing the serum of more than 300 people, the researchers found that differences in 101 of 131 metabolites, especially in amino acids and lipids.
Thus from the point of view of molecular profile, men and women should be treated in a completely different methods. Gender approaches to the treatment of diseases, unfortunately, at the moment very poorly distributed.
It is gender assessment, according to the authors of the study Professor Thomas Illya and Dr. Christine Mittelstrass will help to develop more effective medicines against common diseases, and to shed light on the mechanism of the changes of the body during the development of diseases such as for example diabetes.
