In the study, scientists of the National Institute of health was able to prove the relationship of ghrelin with the development of alcohol dependence. Ghrelin is the hormone responsible for appetite control. As it turned out, its concentration determines not only the desire and craving for alcohol, says NDTV.
Researchers divided the volunteers into three groups. Each received their dose of ghrelin. Next, the experts suggested that people drink alcohol or plain juice. The introduction of the hormone increased drinking and did not affect attraction to soft drinks.
