Fast food impairs memory and affects the ability to learn – the scientists

Older, people abusing fast food and other fatty foods, reduced brain size. This increases the risk of developing senile dementia. A particularly strong blow from a fast food feels the hippocampus. This zone determines the person's ability to learn and remember information, according to ABC News.

Scientists estimated the size of the brain of people aged 60 years and compared the collected information with their diet. It turned out that junk food was for 60% of the reasons for the reduction in size of the hippocampus and other areas of the brain.

In addition to the quality of food scientists drew attention to other risk factors: high blood pressure, level of income, education, gender, presence of depression. Studies show that the hippocampus – the area is very sensitive to the quality of the diet.
