In the latter research group from Harvard medical school proved that eating leafy vegetables can significantly reduce the risk of open-angle glaucoma. Nitrate, as it turned out, improve the blood circulation in the eyes, and that becomes a factor influencing the health of this body.
In the study, researchers analyzed the incidence of glaucoma among different populations. During the study the disease was discovered in 1483. Least glaucoma suffered, consumed a lot of plant foods, especially leafy vegetables. The likelihood of eye diseases were reduced by almost a third.
According to the most common theory, open-angle glaucoma develops because of slow blood flow in the body. More research is needed to better understand the principles of development of a pathology. This will help in the development of preventing glaucoma.
