Chocolate and sugary foods do not help to cope with depression. So say experts from the Hospital, Prince of Wales (Australia). Scientists have tried to understand how chocolate affects a person's mood. Many people believe that after a few slices of sweet health improves and symptoms of depression recede. However, scientists believe it is not.
In the experiment were selected two groups of volunteers. The ones who ate chocolate on a regular basis, others only in a state of sadness. The first group took pleasure from the sweet always, the second tried using chocolate to escape from depression, boredom or stress.
It turned out that the effect of chocolate on depression indeed present. But the effect, the researchers note, the temporary and short-term. Sweet single stimulates the release of serotonin. People with depression require specific treatment with drugs, contributing to the normal metabolism of serotonin during the day.
