During sleep the brain processes that are not fully understood by scientists and doctors. It is known that sleep allows you to switch the brain to an alternative mode of recreation. However, certain nerve cells do not function in the less active than during wakefulness. Before scientists found that sleep allows you to assimilate visual information that has accumulated during the day. That is why sleep is so necessary to the human body.
This process is associated with Sigma-rhythms, RIA "Novosti". Researchers from brown University have conducted studies and were able to demonstrate the processes of assimilation of information by the brain during sleep.
The experiment was attended by 15 people who volunteered on the analysis of their nervous activity. They were invited to play the piano and typing on the keyboard. After this exercise, one was allowed to sleep for three hours, the second group remained awake. The study of brain activity revealed the relationship between the Sigma and Delta rhythms, and processes of visual perception. It turns out that the wave processes occur during sleep, though these mechanisms were not detected. It is Sigma-rhythms during sleep allowed the volunteers to assimilate the information obtained by visual perception during operation.
The second phase of the research consisted in the following. Volunteers offered to find deviations in some of the drawings. The experiment was similar to the previous one and has shown that sleep helps to better cope with such tasks. After sleeping brain activity increased, and with it the amplitude of s-waves. It is worth noting that Delta waves during wakefulness were not found. This allowed us to draw conclusions about the relationship of the Sigma-rhythms and processes of visual perception.
