Medical center of rush University conducted a study and proved the link between testosterone levels and Parkinson's disease. Experiments were conducted in laboratory rodents, which showed that at castration level concentrations of sex hormone decreases several times, after which symptoms characteristic of the initial stages of Parkinson's disease.

As shown by the experiments with rodents, predisposition to Parkinson's disease can be prevented by introduction of 5-alpha-dihydrotestosterone-alpha-dihydrotestosterone. Parkinson's disease depends on the level of inducible synthase nitric oxide. If males lack this gene, it provided protection from Parkinson's disease, if the level of nitric oxide production increases, it directly harms the brain and stimulates Parkinson.
