Dizziness

Dizziness is a symptom of many somatic and neurological diseases and occurs when eighty different pathologies. The head may be spinning with neurological and psychiatric diseases, diseases of the blood, diseases of the ears, eyes, heart diseases. This is a very unpleasant symptom which significantly reduces the patient's quality of life. Allocate non-system and system (true) dizziness.

When the system dizziness person experiences the illusion of motion of surrounding objects or their body in space (feeling similar to the rapid rotation of the carousel). This type of dizziness is accompanied by anxiety, sweating, pallor of skin and mucous membranes, nausea, vomiting. The most common causes are intoxication, degenerative and inflammatory processes in the organs of balance and hearing, blood circulation disorders of the inner ear and brain.

When a non-system dizziness person experiences a feeling of instability, a feeling of instability of the surrounding space. This type occurs when cerebellar disorders, pathology of the visual analyzer, emotional disorders, or conditions.

In neurological practice, the most common vertigo occurs when emotional disorders, and various pathologies of the spine (or rather his cervical spine), vascular diseases of the brain.

Pathology of the cervical part of the spine. A lack of blood supply to the vestibular system responds very sharply. Vestibular centers in the brain and inner ear are supplied with blood through the vertebral arteries, which pass through the narrow channels of the cervical part of the spine. Cervical osteochondrosis or trauma to the neck lead to tightness or spasm of these arteries, deficiency of blood flow and developed dizziness. The main clinical signs in these diseases are: irritability, fatigue, discomfort, tension and pain in the temples, nape and neck, reduced vision in the dark, "ripples" and "floaters" in the eyes, shakiness, dizziness, possible increased blood pressure, vomiting, nausea.

Emotional disorders. Fatigue, depression, neurotic disorders can mimic the symptoms of somatic diseases. The only symptom will be dizziness, buzzing or ringing in the ear, "fog" or noise in the head. The man begins to focus on his health, there are disturbances of sleep and appetite, increased anxiety, tearfulness and a bad mood, fatigue.

Vascular pathology of the brain. Can occur due to damage to the arteries by atherosclerosis or hypertension. With long-term hypertension small arteries of the brain become elastic and narrow, thus limiting the flow to the brain oxygenated arterial blood. This leads to noise in the ears and head, and dizziness. Atherosclerosis of the arteries arise plaques, closing the lumen of blood vessels and prevents the normal circulation. As a result, the blood flow to the brain, the auditory receptors and nerves is limited, resulting in dizziness, memory loss, fatigue, presyncope States, noises in the ears and head.

If you experience dizziness, you should apply to the ENT and neurologist that using different diagnostic methods (x-ray of the cervical part of the spine, computed tomography brain scanning head vessels, vestibular tests, and so on) will establish the diagnosis and prescribe treatment.

The choice of treatment depends on the cause of dizziness. For example, if the symptom has occurred against the background of somatic diseases, treat exactly a disease, but if dizziness emerged as an independent pathology, applied drug therapy and various complexes of physical exercises to train the vestibular apparatus.
