Copper is effective against pathogenic bacteria

Recent scientific studies have shown that copper is effective against pathogenic bacteria. To such conclusion the American scientists of Southampton University. In particular, it was noted that pathogenic microbes are most "like" places of a mass congestion of people. Door handles bags, railings metro, various devices are the main habitat for bacteria. To prevent this, researchers have proposed to use for the manufacture of handles, handrails, and other surfaces to apply copper or alloys based on it.

To prove their hypothesis, the scientists tested the effects of copper on antibiotic-resistant strains of Escherichia coli and Klebsiella pneumoniae. As it turned out in the course of the experiment, the copper effectively kills both types of bacteria.
