Soy contains component - isoflavones - exhibiting antihypertensive activity and so preventing cardiovascular disease. Isoflavones, which are natural components of some plants, are a group of phytoestrogens.

Researchers from the American College of cardiology analyzed the feeding behavior and diet composition 5 thousand men and women aged from 18 to 30 years. It turned out, those in the diets of isoflavones were in abundance, marked a healthier blood pressure. These participants differed systolic pressure (the top number) on average lower by 5.5 points than the people in power which these nutrients are present in a minimum number. Accordingly, in the first group of study participants had healthier blood vessels and the heart.

The new data allow researchers to recommend to increase the share of isoflavones in their diet, especially since it is available and cheap. For example, in one glass of soy milk about 22 milligrams per 100 grams of soybeans - 130 milligrams of this substance.
