Angina: symptoms and treatment

Angina is heart disease, followed by the appearance of paroxysmal chest pain. According to statistics, the manifestations of this pathology is facing up to 20% of men and 15% women. With age, the risk of disease increases significantly.

The cause of angina is atherosclerotic narrowing of the coronary vessels. Factors contributing to the development of pathology are:

• the age of 45 years;

• heredity;

• obesity;

• hyperlipidemia;

• physical inactivity;

• hypertension;

• Smoking;

• anemia;

• diabetes;

• intoxication;

• emotional overstrain and more.

The combination of several factors significantly increases the total risk of the disease.

Symptoms of angina

The first sign of angina is squeezing, burning, pressing, pulling or cutting pain in the sternum. In some cases pain iradionet under the left shoulder blade, shoulder, arm or in the epigastric region. Duration of pain varies from 1 to 20 minutes.

Treatment of angina

The drug of choice for angina is nitroglycerin (pills, alcohol solution). In turn, planned medical treatment involves the acceptance of the following groups of drugs:

• anti-ischemic (anti);

• anti-sclerotic;

• antioxidants;

• antiplatelet agents.

In complicated cases of angina is coronary artery bypass grafting, surgical myocardial revascularization.

Angina is a chronic disabling cardiac disease: progression increases the likelihood of heart attack and death. And, on the contrary, competent and adequate treatment of this disease improves prognosis and maintaining the work ability of the patient when the restriction condition of psychological and physical stress.
