American scientists: regular use of aspirin leads to blindness

According to American scientists, the people who regularly take aspirin, often face the problem you have age related macular degeneration of the retina. Scientists from the USA have established a link between regular aspirin use and development of neovascular form of age-related macular degeneration of the eye retina.

At the moment, scientists from the school of medicine at the University of Wisconsin found the above link in people taking aspirin not less than ten years, until they have not been diagnosed with this disease, which threatens to blindness. These people took aspirin twice a week for blood thinners for the prevention of thrombosis.

According to one of the researchers of this issue, M.D. Barbara Klein, almost 1 percent of the world's population will sooner or later confronted with this eye disease. She has thoroughly studied the history of the disease for 20 years 5000 patients in the age category of over 43 years and have noticed side effects during therapy with acetylsalicylic acid. During aspirin patients were identified various forms of the above-mentioned ophthalmic diseases, while taking aspirin for five years does not put people at such risk, as the ten-year therapy with aspirin.

Some medical researchers have already managed to criticize the data from this study, as they believe that the cause of macular degeneration is age of the patients, but not aspirin.

Be that as it may, the results of researches of the American scientists published in the journal of the American medical Association (Journal of the American Medical Association).
