American scientists have printed artificial ear

American scientists have managed to grow and to print artificial ear that looks and works like a real hearing body. This development will help those people who lost part of an ear in an accident, illness, or people born with the same defect.

Artificial organ was created by researchers from the Medical College at Cornell University in new York using a three-dimensional model of child ear. The model was printed on a three-dimensional printer to create a mold of the ear. After that, scientists have created a gel that is based on living cells ears cows and collagen. They inject the gel into the mold, and the ear has grown. Obtained ears were transplanted onto the backs of mice in order to see how well they survive.

The monitoring process will be about three months. At this stage, scientists are working to create ear cells in laboratory conditions that, in their opinion, will reduce the risk of tissue rejection.
